You will spend the day creating two beautiful pieces with a natural country theme from hand-stitched found & repurposed wood.
The starting point for the frame is a “patch” of repurposed pallet wood, painted and sanded. You will learn how to print high quality images onto your wood using an inkjet printer and I’ll show you how to embellish this with hand embroidery. Further decorative stitching will be added as you layer your wood with snippets of maps or other papers.
The wooden “patch” is stitched onto a calico background and can be further embellished with a choice of found “treasures” such as rusty washers and nails, pieces of rusty wire, old maps and anything else that comes to hand.
This piece is designed to fit inside an Ikea box frame which I can supply if you wish for cost.
You’ll then repeat the process in miniature. Working with fragments of found pieces of wood you’ll create a little country scene, which will be embellished with hand stitching and then attached to a slate heart. The heart measures approx. 10cm x 10cm.
To make your finished pieces even more personal you may wish to bring along your own photograph and other bits & pieces to use – I will provide a list of suggestions on booking.
