I am Ali Ferguson, and this privacy policy explains how I use and protect any information that you give when you use this website and/or subscribe to my newsletter.
When you subscribe to my newsletter
The following information is collected:

This information is collected because you have asked to hear my latest news, usually about workshops, workshops in a box or sometimes I’ll just share with you what I have been up to. These newsletters are infrequent, I only send them when there is news to share.
Whether you use the link on my website or email me to ask to be added to my mailing list, I use mailchimp, a third-party provider, to deliver my newsletter. For more information, please refer to mailchimp’s privacy notice.
Information Gathered
I gather statistics around email opening and clicks, using industry standard technologies. This helps me understand how you are engaging with my content allowing me to continually make improvements to what lands in your mailbox.
Your information is kept securely on mailchimp for as long as you are a subscriber.
You can unsubscribe at any time simply by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter from me.
You can also email me directly at ali@nullaliferguson.co.uk and ask to be unsubscribed and I will ensure that your name is removed.
When you visit my website
I collect the following data:
Your IP address.
If you comment on my blog, I also collect the data you enter in the comments form, as well as your IP address.
How is data used?
IP addresses are used to track visits to the site; to help protect the site from spam comments; to help increase site security and protect it from attacks. I cannot identify you personally from your IP address.
Your email address is collected when you comment on my blog. This helps to discourage abuse and allows me to reply to your comment personally. It is never shown on the website and is not used for any other purpose.
How long is this data kept?
I do not usually delete comments from my blog, so your email address is retained. However, if you wish to have your comments removed, please just ask me and I will do so immediately.
IP addresses may be kept indefinitely to maintain meaningful logs of usage patterns and security risks.
Who else processes data?
I use third party plugins who store or aggregate IP addresses to track website statistics (Jetpack), guard against comment spam (Cleantalk) and enhance website security (Wordfence). This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone.
This website uses the Privacy Suite for WordPress by Complianz to collect and record Browser and Device-based Consent. For this functionality, your IP address is anonymised and stored in a database. This service does not process any personally identifiable information and does not share any data with the service provider. For more information, see the Complianz Privacy Statement.
Workshop Bookings & Sales
I will ask you for your name, email address and phone number when you sign up with me for a workshop.
This is so that I can send you details and reminders and the phone number is in case of last-minute cancellations.
I will also ask for your postal address if you are buying from me.
I keep your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and to comply with my legal obligations e.g. for tax purposes.
Payment for workshops and sales is made securely through PayPal.
Links to other websites
My website contains links to other websites of interest. However, once you have used these links to leave my site, you should note that I do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, I cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. Privacy statements should be available on the websites in question.
This includes links to book onto workshops at the beautiful studios and venues where I am invited to teach. I have no control over their booking and payment systems or data gathering and therefore cannot be held responsible for any issues that arise. Please carefully check that you are happy with their policies including cancellation policy before booking.

I will never pass on your information to other businesses or contacts and only process it through third party providers when my service to you depends on the services they provide (for example my mailing list provider), or when this is a normal part of running my business (for example my webmail & website security).
You are entitled to view, amend, or delete the personal information that I hold.
